Veda and Puppy update

Well,
For those that don't know, we had some trouble with the pups these last few days. They weren't getting enough milk and mom wasn't hanging out with them like she should. It wasn't like her to do this and we weren't sure what was going on..but the night before we didn't really sleep. Brought her into the vet and as it turns out she has a breast infection. Plus she is only letting milk out of 4 of her Teats. We have 5 pups so you can imagine how that was a problem. We've started bottle feeding them and also weighing them throughout the day.(I know fully understand Rob what you and your wife just went through with Jacks..its tough!) Anyway, this is the way it will be for the next few weeks until they get onto solid food. Pics- Forest with Sophia and Rose with Grandma..getting some milky.

Our Dog Veda

Our dog Veda(part Border Collie/Blue Heeler) had babies yesterday. We got her for free from a rancher/breeder that had too many dogs given his situation..so she is a bit of a rescue dog. We didn't know at the time that she was pregnant, so it was a great surprise to us as we checked in with the vet on friday of last week. We were suspicious due to her teats getting bigger and losing mass quantities of fur on her under belly. The names of the babies are Forest, Storm, Rose, Kelty, and Summer.(in birth order). We are going to keep the one that is the same coloring as Veda so she'll have a friend(daughter) on the farm with her. Veda by the way is short for Vedauwoo, which is a park/climbing spot in Wyoming. Veda is a good Momma so far, and is constantly cleaning them.(probably because the kids are always handling them).

Our Farm House

Here is some pics of the house, I will take better ones once the light is better again and we've improved more. Already we have a continiuos fence up around the front yard now, but we still have to complete the gate at the entrance. My parents and mother in law will be coming out soon so hopefully we can work on some of the things that need to get done. Henry in one of the photos is feeding our Mama Goat-Grape. They like the sapling branches, and soon we'll have the side pasture fenced off so they can graze, and mow down the tall grass! Also a few pics of our chickens....yes that is our dog under the Chicken coup! I finally tonight had to make chicken wire around all 4 sides due to Veda trying to get at them...Savannah would serious loose it if one of them got caught by our dog.

Goat Milking Stand

Ok, lets start off with something cool and that I had no hand in making at all. My wife and oldest son took this on and did an amazing job with it. They found the plans of the internet(of course) and cranked it out. Little kids in the background watching mom and son get this done.(Son was taking photos so you don't see him in the frame.......)
